WASP-y Wedded Bliss

Planning a wedding for spring or summer is so much fun.  Oftentimes during these two seasons, the weather is so very fine, which makes for a perfect outdoor wedding. There are unlimited options, the sweet garden wedding, a wedding at the beach, the destination wedding.   During the fall, however, some may find it hard to be inspired. Fall to me signifies the return to business-as-usual. It's the end of the dog days of summer.....and a perfect time for the preppy wedding!

The WASP wedding is all about prep. It's collegiate cool, inspirationally Ivy-league.  For this wedding, the color palette should be reflective of the choices in fabric.  Think sweet seersucker, preppy plaids, argyles, gingham checks and stripes.

To avoid a nautical feel here, I suggest omitting navy. If you like a dark color, I would opt for black.
Here are a few inspirations for invitations:

Love the damask.

For this wedding, I love the classic lines of the white calla lilly,

Or the refined sleekness of the white tulip.

For the bridesmaids' bouquets, I'd base the choice upon the color scheme of the wedding. Here is one example of a gorgeous bouquet.

When making your choice for a bridesmaid dress, go for a classic look.  It is, prep after all; so for bridesmaids I love the structured, clean lines of a sheath or column dress.  Here are some examples in Kelly green.

And here are some examples in Sun Yellow.

I adore this look with the dainty belt.  You can buy one seperately to coordinate with your theme.

For the flower girl of this wedding, you may opt for structure or fluidity. Here are some examples.

I love prep!!!

Here are a few looks for the gents:

Wedding party favors for this bride should be chic, simple, and incorporate elements of the color scheme.

The cake should also reflect the color scheme.  For a preppy wedding, I really prefer cakes with ribbon for a streamlined effect.

Fondant is also a very classic and clean way to go. For the bridal party, or for individual guests how sweet is this cupcake?

For the china, I prefer plaids, elegant monogramming, and gingham check.

For Tartan, I JUST LOVE Ralph!!!

Either of the above plates can be paired with

For this preppy princess I also like streamlined and structured dresses.  Another option is semi-structued with full skirt.
